Who is the Tech Tutor?
Our Tech Tutor has experience planning & running programs for children, teaching at the university level, and working with older adults in both technology support/education consultant and in his research in the aging and healthcare technology space.
Technology can enhance many aspects of our lives, yet there are so many barriers to using it and issues that always seem to occur when trying. We believe that anyone can learn to harness the technology they need with the right guidance.
Our goal is to empower people by using technology to open their world and simplify their lives.

Cindy, 79, just got a new iPhone and wants to keep in touch with her grandkids. Over three 45 minutes sessions and one follow up 15 minute check in, Tech Tutor helped set up and teach Cindy to use: the device with basic functions, FaceTime, iMessage, WhatsApp, and Zoom, family shared iCloud photo albums.
The package was $175 and totalled 2.5 hours.
Albert, 53 wants to FaceTime his mother, Linda, 84, but cannot figure out how to explain it to her in a way where it sticks. He called the Tech Tutor who spoke with Albert and Linda, and they set up a customized plan that involved a one hour primer on how to use FaceTime and practice good phone/iPad habits so they were not always missing, off, or uncharged. Over six short 10 minute check in calls with Linda over the next three weeks, the Tech Tutor ensured she was using her devices effectively, and we helped her address any questions she had in exploring her iPad. We also helped Linda set up some basic safety features like “Medical ID”, which for example allows someone to call pre-set emergency contacts when they find your phone, and “Find my iPhone”, which allows you to locate your device if lost.
The package was $125 and totalled 2 hours
Ronald, 81 wants to get a smart watch for fitness and safety (falls detection). The Tech Tutor helped break down all his options, and when Ronald decided Apple Watch was for him, the Tech Tutor helped him set everything up, learn how to use it effectively, and learn all the features, including setting up various health apps through his iPhone.
The package was 3.5 hours, including a trip to the Apple store together, for a total of $250
How much does it cost?
A: At Tech Tutor, we are focussed on creating customized plan to empower clients to achieve their goals. While our flat rate is $96/hour, we prefer to work with clients to develop customized plans tailored to their wants and needs. These could entail multiple sessions at a value, for example three 1-hour sessions plus a 30 minute follow up (3.5 hours) for $200.

Who can access the service?
A: One beautiful thing about technology is that it allows us to meet online from any location. There are no limits on who can access the service or where they access Tech Tutor from. There may be constraints that do impact ability to serve potential clients, for example, our limited capacity, the ability to use online platforms to meet or address the current need, and language or time zone barriers.
